COMMISSION ON ACCREDITATION FOR RESPIRATORY CARE

Applying for Accreditation

NOTICE:  As of January 1, 2017, new CoARC Accreditation Policies are in effect.  If you are preparing to (or in the process of) applying for accreditation, please contact Tom Smalling, Executive Director (817-283-2835  ext 101 or 631-912-7920) for further information regarding the impact of these Policy changes.

If interested in starting a respiratory care program, please read Section 2 (Initiation of Accreditation) of the Accreditation Policies and Procedures Manual.  You are also strongly encouraged to review the applicable CoARC Accreditation Standards (i.e., Entry, Degree Advancment or APRT).

The application process begins by completing and submitting a Letter of Intent (LOI) Application (choose from the list of applications on the right side of this page).  If you're not sure which one to choose, please call.

Following review and approval of the LOI Application, the accreditation review process includes submission of the Accreditation Services Application, along with completion and submission of self-study reports (PSSRs and CSSRs), payment of appropriate fees, and agreement to an on-site evaluation.  An institution sponsoring a program may voluntarily withdraw from the accreditation process at any time (see CoARC Policy 1.057).

Following your review of these documents, please contact Tom Smalling, Executive Director, at 817-283-2835 ext 101 or 631-912-7920 for additional important information and helpful tips.
